THE BRISBANE Lions' boardroom split has no end in sight after the club failed to set a date for an Extraordinary General Meeting on Friday.

A rival ticket to chairman Angus Johnson, headed by current directors Mick Power, Paul Williams and four-time premiership coach Leigh Matthews, requested an EGM three weeks ago.

They had written requests from 800 full-voting members to call for the meeting and were acting on their behalf.

Under the Lions' constitution, the board had 21 days – which expired on Friday – to set a date for the EGM.

The AFL was hopeful of avoiding the EGM and called the warring factions into mediation with the AFL Commission four days before the Grand Final.

Nothing was resolved then and it appears nothing has been resolved now.

The Lions released a short statement on their website on Friday afternoon to inform members.

"The Board of the Brisbane Lions remain in ongoing mediation talks with the AFL," it said.

"All Directors have confirmed their availability for a Board meeting on Tuesday 8 October."
