Victoria’s top emerging footballers recently completed the 2023 Coates Talent League Boys Testing Day ahead of the commencement of the 2023 season.

The 2023 Coates Talent League Boys season begins this weekend.

The competition will feature a 17-round home-and-away fixture, with teams from Victoria and Tasmania to each play 13 matches during the home-and-away season. Five academy programs from New South Wales, Queensland and Northern Territory will feature in up to five matches.

The 2023 Coates Talent League Boys Testing Day at Maribyrnong College saw players from the 12 Victorian programs feature in a range of testing, which included the standing vertical jump, running vertical jump, 20m sprint, agility test and yo-yo test.

Rye Penny from the Calder Cannons was a standout in the two jumping tests, producing 101cm on the running vertical jump and 86cm on the standing vertical jump. He also recorded the sixth-fastest result on the 20m sprint.

Rook Barry from the Western Jets was quickest on the 20m sprint, with a time of 2.845 seconds, while Northern Knights midfielder Jake Woodward produced the fastest time on the agility test (7.84 seconds).
