Funny how some things stick in ones mind. I can remember back in 1967, StKilda were in the 1st semi final against Geelong. They had a training session at the M.C.G. during the week, and I had been working nearby, so I went along to watch them train.

I sat up in the concrete stands at the Richmond end, and was the only person there. Allan Jeans had the players do a training drill on various parts of the ground to get them used to the M.C.G. Anyway, sometime after the training session had began, I noticed somebody running down the players race to join the main group. It was Jim Odea, he was late for the training session for some reason.

Dont know why I remember that. I saw the game on the Saturday and have 2 vivid memories. Bobby Skilton who won the Brownlow did a lap of honor and was sporting 2 black eyes, South had played Hawthorn the previous week, those days the Brownlow was held on the Monday night following the last home and away game. The other memory was one of the best marks I have ever seen, Billy Ryan of Geelong took a screamer standing on the shoulders of Ian Synman.
