The AFL is pleased to announce the dates and times for Rounds 14 to 21 of the 2024 Smithy’s VFL season.

The fixture announcement completes home and away scheduling following the original release of scheduling up to Round 13 prior to the season commencing.

Highlights of today’s fixture release include:

- Ten matches featuring VFL standalone clubs playing against each other.

- Essendon to host Collingwood at Windy Hill in Round 14.

- Sydney Swans to host North Melbourne (Round 16) and Collingwood (Round 20) at Tramway Oval prior to the Swans hosting the Kangaroos and Magpies in AFL matches at the SCG.

- Richmond to take on reigning premier the Gold Coast Suns at the Swinburne Centre in Round 16 leading into the AFL clash between the Tigers and GWS Giants at the MCG that day. The Tigers also host Sandringham at the Swinburne Centre in Round 19 ahead of the AFL clash between the Tigers and St Kilda at the MCG.

- Geelong Cats and Footscray Bulldogs to clash at GMHBA Stadium in Round 17 ahead of the AFL match between the Cats and Bulldogs.

- Williamstown to host Richmond in a twilight clash commencing 5:05pm on Saturday, July 20 as part of Round 17.

- Collingwood to play a home game against Carlton at IKON Park on Sunday, July 21.

- Gold Coast Suns to host Brisbane Lions at People First Stadium in Round 18 prior to the AFL QClash between the two clubs. The Suns will also host Casey Demons at People First Stadium in Round 21 prior to the AFL clash against Melbourne.

- Frankston to host Port Melbourne under lights at Kinetic Stadium on Friday, August 2 in Round 19.

2024 Smithy’s VFL season information

The 2024 Smithy’s VFL home and away season consists of 21 rounds, with all 21 teams playing 18 matches.

The 2024 Smithy’s VFL season will again feature a Wildcard Round following its introduction in 2023.

Wildcard Round will see the team that finishes the home and away season in seventh position on the ladder play against the team that finishes 10th, while eighth will take on ninth. The two winners will advance to the 2024 Smithy’s VFL Finals Series.

Wildcard Round will be played on the weekend of August 24-25, with the opening weekend of the 2024 Smithy’s VFL Finals Series, featuring the qualifying and elimination finals, to then follow during the AFL pre-finals bye.

The 2024 Smithy’s VFL Grand Final is scheduled to be played on Sunday, September 22, the weekend before the 2024 Toyota AFL Grand Final.

Broadcast and streaming

All matches in the 2024 Smithy’s VFL and rebel VFLW seasons will be live streamed free via the AFL website, AFL Live Official App and VFL App. Smithy’s VFL broadcast partner, the Seven Network, will broadcast select matches live and free on the Seven Network in Victoria and on 7plus nationally.

Live scoring and stats is available via both the match centre on the AFL website and AFL Live Official App, as well as the VFL App.

Ticketing

Where Smithy’s VFL matches are ticketed, entry is $10 for adults, $5 for concession holders and kids under 15 are free. Some venues don't charge for entry. AFL ticketing prices apply for VFL matches played as curtain-raisers and curtain-closers to AFL matches. Entry to rebel VFLW matches is free. Where venues host VFL and VFLW double-headers, entry fees will apply after half time of the VFLW match if played first.
