Founded in 1864, the Club’s headquarters and training facilities are located in Carlton at IKON Park, our traditional home ground. About the Role

The People and Culture Coordinator plays a key role in managing all aspects of the employee lifecycle within a small, collaborative, and supportive People, Culture, and Community team. Reporting to the Head of People, Culture and Inclusion, this position requires a values-driven and highly collaborative HR professional with a passion for creating exceptional employee experiences and delivering impactful business outcomes that support our greatest asset—our people.

In this role, you will provide high-quality administrative and operational HR support across all departments, including administration and football. You will also contribute to building connection and engagement by coordinating internal staff events, workshops, and initiatives focused on learning, celebration, and recognition.

A strong focus on HR systems and data management is essential, as you will lead HR reporting and ensure accurate data capture and transformation into meaningful insights that inform decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

HR Administration and Reporting

· Oversee all administrative aspects of the employee lifecycle, including coordinating recruitment, onboarding, and offboarding processes; maintaining and updating the Employment Hero HRIS; preparing reports; and serving as the first point of contact for general HR inquiries.

· Prepare employment agreements and HR documentation for key processes such as performance reviews, remuneration adjustments, probation completions, and other relevant requirements.

· Manage compliance activities, including monitoring training and education modules, AFL accreditations, certifications, and other ad hoc requirements across the Club.

· Maintain accurate and up-to-date People & Culture data, including organisational charts, staff records, and HR metrics, ensuring all files and information are securely processed, stored, and easily retrievable via Employment Hero.

· Develop presentations and materials for staff sessions and meetings as needed.

· Provide HRIS support, troubleshooting technical issues and guiding managers and employees to effectively utilise HR systems.

· Assist in compiling data for regular People & Culture dashboard reporting for both the AFL and the Club.

· Create and manage Club surveys through Culture Amp and generate relevant reports post-completion.

· Maintain the Club’s workforce safeguarding platform (OHO) by coordinating Working With Children and police checks.

HR Policies and Processes

· Serve as the primary point of contact for managers and employees, delivering clear and practical HR advice aligned with company policies, procedures, and employment legislation.

· Ensure completion of all core people processes, including performance plans, probation reviews, and accurate position descriptions. Provide guidance and support to managers and staff throughout these processes.

· Continuously review and enhance internal HR processes and procedures to improve efficiency and elevate the overall employee experience.

HR Planning and Coordination

· Manage end-to-end onboarding and offboarding processes, including contract preparation, induction, compliance training, AFL accreditation, and exit interviews.

· Coordinate the selection and placement of La Trobe internship students across all departments, ensuring a smooth and valuable experience for both students and the Club.

· Assist with delivering our Employee Value Proposition (EVP) by coordinating initiatives such as learning and development programs, health and wellbeing activities, staff events, workshops, and other engagement programs in collaboration with the People and Culture team.

· Support the implementation of strategic priorities within the Inclusion, Diversity, Equality & Belonging (IDE&B) plan, ensuring initiatives are embedded across the organisation.

· Assist in executing the People Plan, contributing to projects and actions that strengthen culture and enhance the employee experience.

· Partner with hiring managers to support all aspects of recruitment, including approvals, advertising, assessment, selection, and appointment processes.

· Collaborate with the People and Culture team to ideate, plan, and implement projects and initiatives that strengthen our employee experience and foster a values-driven culture.

Experience, Skills and Attributes

· Tertiary qualifications in Human Resource Management, Psychology, Business, or a related discipline (desirable).

· Two – three years’ experience in a similar People and Culture role.

· Proven experience in coordinating a broad range of cyclical People & Culture processes.

· Strong understanding of applying policies and procedures in alignment with industrial instruments.

· Hands-on experience with HR software, including HRIS or HRMS platforms.

· Advanced computer literacy, particularly across MS Office applications.

· Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with diverse internal stakeholders and external providers.

· Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the capability to influence and negotiate outcomes when required.

· Genuine interest in assisting our staff to be at their best.

· Proven track record working effectively in a collaborative team environment.
