About this role:
This role is designed to support WA Football in broadening its participation and engagement base with a specific focus on multicultural communities. Working as part of a team, this role will ensure that WAF provides more opportunities for multicultural participants to be involved in all areas of the game (playing, coaching, officiating and administering).
This role will have specific responsibilities related to engagement with the AFL’s Multicultural team and delivery of the ‘Community Connect’ program of activity across selected multicultural LGA's (Local Government Areas) in WA.
It is important that this role deeply engages the multicultural community, whilst providing mentoring and leadership development through the delivery of programs and activations.
Key Role Criteria:
- Deliver AFL-Funded Community Connect programs in select LGAs to strengthen the engagement and connection of multicultural communities to Australian Rules Football.
- Support the delivery of the WAF Multicultural engagement strategy including activations as required.
- Develop relationships with key multicultural stakeholders and groups in Western Australia.
- Assist with the development of and report on all key activities across all areas of WAF’s Multicultural Engagement Strategy.
- Provide assistance to AFL clubs and key stakeholders to plan and implement Multicultural programs and events.
Experience Required - Essential & Desirable:
Essential:
- A sound understanding of WA Football structure and system.
- Proactive individual who is goal oriented and achieves outcomes.
- Able to work after normal business hours and on weekends.
- Good customer relationship/communication skills.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
Desirable:
- Experience or understanding of developing programs for Aboriginal and multicultural participants.
- Experience working with government departments and agencies.
- Strong public speaking skills
- An understanding of volunteer environments within WA Football.
