RICHMOND wingman Kamdyn McIntosh has suffered a low-grade syndesmosis injury to his right ankle at a training camp on the Gold Coast.

The Tigers have determined he will not require surgery following scans, but no timeframe has been placed on his return yet.

McIntosh was carried from the field after a tackle during the session, with the club later revealing he would be sent for scans on Friday to determine the extent of the blow.

It's a frustrating setback for McIntosh, who missed last year's Grand Final victory over Greater Western Sydney after he was cut from the senior side late in the season.

McIntosh was a mainstay in the side until round 17, but was axed for the club's next match against Port Adelaide and failed to regain his place in the team for the rest of the campaign.

The 25-year-old, who last year penned a contract extension to ensure his future at the club until at least the end of 2021, has played 90 games for the Tigers across seven years.

He was an integral part of the club's drought-breaking 2017 premiership victory.
