1. Greater Western Sydney - Jonathon Patton
Height: 197cm
Weight: 101kg
DOB: 20/5/93
Club:
Eastern Ranges
Draft range: 1-2
With Greater Western Sydney owning the first five picks in the 2011 NAB AFL Draft, there are those who believe it doesn't matter whose name gets called first, but make no mistake - being the No.1 draft pick is still a big deal and the Giants have put a lot of thought into bestowing that honour on Jonathon Patton. The 197cm power forward joins fellow Victorian Jeremy Cameron, a 196cm forward taken as a 17-year-old selection last year, to form a combination the Giants hope will underpin their forward line for the next decade. I've seen Patton gather a ball below his knees and snap a goal, thread a major from the boundary line and break open a pack and roost one home from outside 50 in the same game. He has a physical presence at the tender age of 18 that could see him quickly develop into a dominant force in the League. He is a worthy No.1 pick.

2. Greater Western Sydney - Stephen Coniglio
Height:
182cm
Weight: 82kg
DOB: 15/12/93
Club: Swan Districts
Draft range: 1-3
The West Australian onballer with the blistering turn of speed and the raking left foot kick has been a Giant from a long way out, with his love for cricket the only possible detour along the road to Greater Western Sydney. Once he declared his passion for AFL burned brighter, his future was sealed. Coniglio possesses a rare blend of talents - he's an honest, hard-working midfielder who is also capable of a game-turning flash of brilliance. He captained Western Australia at the NAB AFL Under-18 Championships and won the Larke Medal as the best Division One player at the carnival. The only question mark is whether he will nudge out Patton to be the No.1 draft pick.

3. Greater Western Sydney - Matthew Buntine
Height:
189cm
Weight: 84kg
DOB: 19/10/93
Club: Dandenong Stingrays
Draft range: 3-7
More than one AFL recruiter rates the Stingray defender's rare ability to read the play, decision-making and disposal by hand and foot worthy of the No.1 draft pick. It's not hard to believe when you see him take on much taller opponents like Jonathon Patton or even Geelong's Nathan Vardy like he did this year, and come out on top. The Giants have the luxury of taking him with the third overall selection, but history may well judge him the best player of this talent pool. Buntine's eagerness to get a head start on his final under-age season saw him develop shin splints from over-training, but that setback at least had the silver lining of allowing him to spend more time in the gym. The AIS-AFL Academy's Ben Mitchell medallist is well placed to figure prominently in the Giants' defence early on as a result, with his leadership and creativity from the back half sure to win plenty of admirers in Sydney's west.

4. Greater Western Sydney - Dom Tyson
Height:
186cm
Weight: 80kg
DOB: 8/6/93
Club: Oakleigh Chargers
Draft range: 3-7
Tyson had his doubters when the 2011 TAC Cup season started, but he finished it as a consensus top-five draft pick. The onballer worked hard at his craft in the early months and managed to put all the pieces together in the final game of the national carnival. Tyson had 29 possessions, 10 marks, five tackles and kicked a goal on the big stage of Etihad Stadium to make a mockery of suggestions he didn't have the leg speed to adequately cover an AFL ground. He'll never be the fastest player in the Giants' team, but his work-rate inside and outside the packs, pinpoint disposal and ability to bring teammates into the play make him a valuable addition.

5. Greater Western Sydney - Will Hoskin-Elliott
Height:
186cm
Weight: 73kg
DOB: 2/9/93
Club: Western Jets
Draft range: 3-7
The dashing Western Jets winger has the sort of line-breaking ability that would make him a sought after prospect in any draft. He grew in confidence as the year progressed and isn't afraid to have a bounce and take on an opponent with his deceptively quick loping stride. He has a booming right boot (look no further than the long bomb he landed against WA for evidence) that would be the envy of any long-kicking lefty, and elite endurance - he ran a 15.12 beep test and a 9:53 in the 3km time trial at the NAB AFL Draft Combine - that will allow him to prowl a wing in charcoal and orange all day.

6. Port Adelaide - Chad Wingard
Height:
182cm
Weight: 77kg
DOB: 29/9/93
Club: Sturt
Draft range: 5-10
The courageous South Australian onballer would sit comfortably in the top five of this draft, but the Giants can't have them all and Port Adelaide will be grateful for that. Wingard is capable of pulling off a spectacular mark or kicking a brilliant goal, but he is also a fierce competitor at the stoppages and a strong tackler. He drifted off the radar towards the end of the season due to injury and illness, but recorded the highest running vertical leap off his left foot at the combine and also displayed his blend of speed and agility before succumbing to injury. Port also put some work into Victorian onballers Liam Sumner and Devon Smith at this spot, but the sublimely talented local lad proves too good to pass up.

7. Greater Western Sydney - Adam Tomlinson
Height:
193cm
Weight: 88kg
DOB: 10/8/93
Club: Oakleigh Chargers
Draft range: 7-12 The No.7 slot will have been one of the hardest for Greater Western Sydney to nail down. With the Brisbane Lions needing to add a quality tall to their mix, the Giants know either the versatile key position prospect they covet and the athletic ruckman they crave most likely won't make it past the Lions, who choose next. A tough choice it may be, but Adam Tomlinson is a rare talent and his potential at either end of the ground proves too great for the Giants to risk. The Oakleigh Charger runs a sub-3s 20m sprint, a 15.1 beep test and has the work ethic required to run his opposition into the ground. He has nice hands overhead and as a forward you can count on him to keep presenting and offering leads until the ball comes his way. As a defender, he doesn't allow his opponent a minute's peace. All that remains is for the Giants to decide in which half of the ground he'll start his AFL apprenticeship.

Watch Adam Tomlinson in action

8. Brisbane Lions - Billy Longer
Height:
201cm
Weight: 98kg
DOB: 12/5/93
Club: Northern Knights
Draft range: 5-14
The Lions really like prolific Chargers' onballer Toby Greene here, but if they don't swoop on the impressive Northern Knights' ruckman he'll be gone by the time they pick again at No.12. Longer is the best ruckman in this draft by a long way and the opportunity to allow him to learn from Ben Hudson for a year before forming an imposing tandem with Matthew Leuenberger proves too good to pass up. He is a right-foot kick who goes for taps predominantly with his left hand, but he's just as adept with his right, which is a real weapon in the centre circle. He doesn't collect as much of the ball around the ground as you'd like a top-10 ruck prospect to, but that will come and he has shown he can be dangerous resting up forward in the TAC Cup - hitting the scoreboard in all but two of his 12 games for the Knights.

Watch Billy Longer in action

9. Greater Western Sydney - Devon Smith
Height:
174cm
Weight: 76kg
DOB: 20/5/93
Club: Geelong Falcons
Draft range: 8-15
Smith's pre-season was interrupted by hip surgery, but he still went on to have an outstanding year. The hard-working midfielder-forward has an innate ability to find space on the ground and a nose for goal, with both qualities on display when he booted six goals from 27 possessions against NT during the national championships. His speed off the mark will be an asset inside attacking 50, with his willingness to chase and tackle sure to earn him a place among Kevin Sheedy's favourites.

Watch Devon Smith in action

10. Greater Western Sydney - Liam Sumner
Height:
178cm
Weight: 71kg
DOB: 16/8/93
Club: Sandringham Dragons
Draft range: 6-16
It's hard not to like the way Sumner worked to elevate himself into this lofty draft position. Told he would struggle to make it given his skinny frame, he went away and set about making sure he wouldn't be denied his dream on the basis of his physical shortcomings. The forward-midfielder booted six goals for Sandringham to earn a late call up to the AIS-AFL Academy tour in April and he hasn't looked back. Elusiveness, x-factor and breakaway speed were always his weapons, but he has added a hard edge to his game, which was on display against Eastern Ranges when he laid 11 tackles in his second match back from a successful national carnival.

Watch Liam Sumner in action

11. Greater Western Sydney - Nick Haynes
Height:
192cm
Weight: 78kg
DOB: 18/5/92
Club: Dandenong Stingrays
Draft range: 8-15
The rangy half-forward/winger wasn't considered in this bracket of the draft earlier in the year, but his rate of improvement each week with the Stingrays, after a mid-season bout of glandular fever, continued to the point he is now considered a vital ingredient in the Giants' mix. A badly broken elbow saw Haynes lost to football for an extensive period, but he returned to the game with the Frankston Bombers last year. He has exceptional ability overhead and the sort of elite endurance (he ran a 14.13 beep test at the combine) demanded of his position at the next level.

Watch Nick Haynes in action

12. Brisbane Lions - Toby Greene
Height:
181cm
Weight: 76kg
DOB: 25/9/93
Club: Oakleigh Chargers
Draft range: 7-14
Greene was a prime mover in both the Oakleigh and Vic Metro midfields and he will provide some real grunt to the Lions' onball unit. The tough inside midfielder is never far from the action, thanks to his elite endurance base, and once he wins the ball he has the vision and precise disposal by hand to hurt the opposition. Although he has the strength to stand in a tackle and dish the ball off, his ability to create space for himself by wrong footing an opponent with his slick change of direction is perhaps his greatest skill.

Watch Toby Greene in action

13. Greater Western Sydney - Daniel Markworth
Height:
191cm
Weight: 78kg
DOB: 3/4/92
Club: Calder Cannons
Draft range: 12-19
Markworth is another late bloomer whose draft ranking improved as the season progressed. At 191cm, Markworth is a quick and agile forward who is difficult for an opposition coach to find a match-up for. He models his game on Geelong's Steve Johnson and the Giants will be hoping he can fill a similar role. Like Johnson, Markworth has the ability to pull off the occasional piece of trickery up forward and can play onball, which is a string to his bow he can certainly develop further.

Watch Daniel Markworth in action

14. Greater Western Sydney - Shane Kersten
Height:
191cm
Weight: 92kg
DOB: 15/3/93
Club: South Fremantle
Draft range: 13-25
The last piece of the Giants' first-round puzzle comes in the burly form of South Fremantle forward Shane Kersten. Greater Western Sydney nearly took Kersten as part of its 17-year-old concessions last year, but went with another West Australian in Simon Tunbridge, who has since returned to Perth. He is a slightly different type of forward to Patton and Cameron and brings a lot to Greater Western Sydney’s attacking mix with his pace off the mark, strength overhead and long kicking. He was sidelined for much of the season with an elbow injury, but returned to South Fremantle's colts team late in the year and quickly found form in front of goals.

Watch Shane Kersten in action

15. Richmond - Sam Docherty
Height:
185cm
Weight: 83kg
DOB: 17/10/93
Club: Gippsland Power
Draft range: 12-20
The Tigers are looking for an injection of class coming out of the back half and they need look no further than Docherty. His poise, decision-making and disposal by foot under pressure had him in the mix for the Lions and Greater Western Sydney higher up the order, but Richmond will happily take him off the board here. Docherty overcame the disappointment of not making the initial Vic Country squad to force his way back into the team late in the carnival. He wasn't named in the team booklet for the match against WA at Skilled Stadium, and his many possessions were accredited to another player, but he immediately caught the eye with his creativity and dash from defence.

16. Fremantle - Taylor Adams
Height:
179cm
Weight: 80kg
DOB: 20/9/93
Club: Geelong Falcons
Draft range: 8-18
Adams is a tough, skilful inside midfielder who will be an excellent foil for the likes of Stephen Hill, Nat Fyfe and Anthony Morabito for years to come. He averaged 28 possessions a game for the Falcons this year and works tirelessly to bring his teammates into the play. He has strong leadership credentials and isn't one to drop his head, with his strong voice a constant at Visy Park late in the season during a particularly heavy loss to Oakleigh. He ran a 15.1 beep test and has the capacity to quickly become an important part of Ross Lyon's new regime.

Watch Taylor Adams in action

17. Western Bulldogs - Hayden Crozier
Height:
185cm
Weight: 68kg
DOB:
24/12/93
Club: Eastern Ranges
Draft range: 13-23
Crozier is one of the youngest players in this draft pool and he is also one of the most exciting. The Dogs probably have greater areas of need, but based purely on talent alone this is a great pick for them. Bulldogs fans will need to be patient - they probably won't see their prized first-round selection at all in 2012 - but Crozier should prove worth the wait. The spring-heeled forward shot to prominence with his huge hanger against WA during the national carnival, but he has a good footy brain to go with the x-factor he brings to the table. He is lightning quick, has a good tank, and with a further year of development in the AFL system could prove one of the steals of the draft. Gippsland's Clay Smith was a late contender for this slot, but the Dogs' abundance of inside mids sees them go with Crozier.

18. North Melbourne - Brad McKenzie
Height:
188cm
Weight: 76kg
DOB: 29/5/93
Club: Sturt
Draft range: 15-27
McKenzie is a smart half-back flanker/onballer whose precision kicking off his left boot will really appeal to the Kangaroos as they continue putting together the pieces of an elite midfield. McKenzie's class will certainly enhance the Roos' onball brigade, with his ability to put the ball to the advantage of his forwards with either a short pass or a long searching ball a feature of his game.  Calder's Brandon Ellis will come into calculations at this pick, but his similarity to some at Arden St will see the Roos go with the agile South Aussie.

19. Essendon - Elliott Kavanagh
Height:
185cm
Weight: 75Kg
DOB: 19/5/93
Club: Western Jets
Draft range: 14-23
Kavanagh has been unable to rediscover the form that made him a prospective top-10 pick during his under-age year thanks to his well-documented hamstring issues earlier this season. Any club that picks him will be doing so largely on the basis of his 2010 form coupled with a positive medical report, and it appears the Bombers are happy with both. Provided Kavanagh can put his durability issues behind him, Essendon will have snared a classy onballer whose disposal by foot will win him plenty of fans among the Bomber faithful.

20. Fremantle - Brandon Ellis
Height:
181cm
Weight: 83kg
DOB: 3/8/93
Club: Calder Cannons
Draft range: 12-20
Ideally Fremantle would have liked Shane Kersten to have been available here, but will be delighted to add another tough nut who plays footy straight out of the Ross Lyon handbook. Ellis got better the longer the TAC Cup season went. He is a team-first player who will collide with a goalpost trying to rush a behind one minute and then run back with the flight to take a relieving mark the next. He reads the play exceptionally well across half-back, which allows him to cut off opposition forward thrusts, and he has the vision and disposal skills by foot to launch the counter-attack. He also has the tank and the skills to become a part of Freo's midfield rotation in the future.

Watch Brandon Ellis in action

21. Sydney Swans - Tom Mitchell
Height:
180cm
Weight: 73kg
DOB: 31/5/93
Club: Claremont
Draft range: Sydney Swans father-son selection
The Swans have done well to nab Mitchell with a father-son pick at this point in the draft. He is a clearance player who makes good decisions in traffic, has a good endurance base and is a lovely long kick off his left boot. He's had some injury concerns this year, but he is a good chance to play senior footy early next year.

22. Carlton - Clay Smith
Height:
180cm
Weight: 78kg
DOB: 11/5/93
Club: Gippsland Power
Draft range: 17-30
The Blues don't have any gaping holes in their list, so they will take one of the toughest kids in the draft here. Smith's draft stocks rose late in the season and a 15.3 beep test at the combine certainly didn't hurt his cause either. In Smith, Carlton will have secured the presence under the packs it sought when they traded for Brock McLean. Although Smith excels in congestion, he averaged more than five clearances a game for the Power, so he's certainly no battering ram. He can go forward and kick a nice goal and is also capable of taking a high mark when the opportunity presents.

23. West Coast - Jordan Lockyer
Height:
192cm
Weight: 86kg
DOB: 15/6/93
Club: West Perth
Draft range: 20-30
West Coast couldn't secure the talented son of former player Andrew Lockyer via the father-son rule, so they go out and get him here - and he's well worth the pick. Lockyer has the height and vertical leap to be groomed as a replacement for Darren Glass, but he also possesses the speed, endurance and disposal skills to follow the path of another junior key defender, Fremantle's David Mundy, into the middle of the ground. Lockyer finished the year playing senior WAFL footy with West Perth and is a quality tall prospect who could prove to have other strings to his bow.

24. Gold Coast - Elliot Yeo
Height:
188cm
Weight: 73kg
DOB: 1/10/93
Club: East Fremantle
Draft range: 24-35
Yeo is an exciting prospect who topped the agility and standing vertical jump testing at the NAB AFL Draft Combine and also ran a 2.91s 20m sprint. Even so, the half-back flanker is a bit of a reach here, but having plundered the first round of last year's draft, the Suns can afford to get a little creative with this pick.

25. St Kilda - Todd Elton
Height:
197cm
Weight: 92kg
DOB: 29/4/93
Club: Dandenong Stingrays
Draft range: 15-30
The Saints need an infusion of talented talls and Elton is an excellent choice here. His stocks have waned a little on the back of an up-and-down season - an infected spider bite laid him low during the championships - but like most big kids, he'll take some time to grow into his 197cm frame. He's quick off the mark (he ran a 2.93s 20m sprint at the combine), has an excellent vertical leap and is hard for defenders to spoil when he extends his long arms. He'll need to work on his tank a bit, but with Nick Riewoldt as a mentor, Elton could become a pivotal figure in St Kilda's forward set-up for years to come.

26. Richmond - Jordan Murdoch
Height:
190cm
Weight: 80kg
DOB: 23/3/92
Club: Glenelg
Draft range: 22-32
The fleet-footed South Aussie half-forward fills a need for the Tigers and is an exciting prospect to boot. Murdoch gave Joel Wilkinson's 20m sprint record a nudge at the SA state screening and, at 190cm, has the sort of mobility that will make a forward line containing Jack Riewoldt more unpredictable. He's a long kick off his left boot, which he employs well on the run, and he can also find a target inside 50 when he roams further afield.

27. Adelaide - Sam Kerridge
Height:
188cm
Weight: 86kg
DOB: 26/4/93
Club: Bendigo Pioneers
Draft range: 25-35
The Crows need to replenish their tall stocks, but the prospect of adding courageous onballer Kerridge here is enough to put the key position search on hold until later. Kerridge was asked to do a lot in a struggling Bendigo team this year, but rose to the task admirably. He's a good height for a midfielder, has a huge tank, and can go forward and kick a goal. He's a powerfully built lad who is strong overhead and can win his own ball with a turn of speed to break away from packs. Adelaide would have also looked long and hard at local lad and All Australian half-back flanker Alex Forster here.

28. West Coast - Murray Newman
Height:
179cm
Weight: 67kg
DOB: 18/11/93
Club: Swan Districts
Draft range: 28-40
Having secured their tall prospect, the Eagles can add a little dash and flair and, once again, they don't need to stray outside their own backyard. Newman is a midfielder/small forward who played eight senior WAFL games with Swan Districts this year. He was prominent for WA during the national carnival, which he came away from with a disposal efficiency of 71 per cent. The left footer has a nose for goal and a willingness to run in support through the middle. Having had his career threatened after suffering tendon damage in a fall before the season, Newman provides one of the good news stories of the draft.

29. Fremantle - Josh Bootsma
Height:
190cm
Weight: 74kg
DOB: 22/2/93
Club: South Fremantle
Draft range: 25-40
Bootsma is one of this year's draft bolters, having gone largely unnoticed playing country footy with his father, former Freo player Brad, in coastal Albany until halfway through the season. Fremantle made initial enquiries into his availability via the father-son rule, but will be happy enough to spend this pick on the dashing defender. He has excellent closing speed, is an excellent kick and will complement Freo's tall backs nicely.

30. Brisbane Lions - Michael Talia
Height:
192cm
Weight: 88kg
DOB: 11/2/93
Club: Calder Cannons
Draft range: 17-35
Talia is one of the premier key defender prospects in the draft and the Lions do well to bolster their defence with the All Australian full-back here. Talia, the brother of Adelaide's Daniel, is a powerfully built defender whose strength in a one-on-one contest is a feature. He reads the play well and links up well with his teammates to run the ball out of the back half. Some have raised questions over his kicking technique, but he kicks the ball well enough and that will only improve in a full-time AFL environment.

31. ESSENDON - Sebastian Ross
Height:
187cm
Weight:
83kg
DOB: 7/5/93
Club: North Ballarat Rebels
Draft range: 30-45
The Bombers have been linked with Ross for a while - he's a cousin of Jobe Watson - and they get their man at No.31. Ross is a hard-working mid who averaged 25 possessions and four clearances a game with the Rebels and represented Vic Country with distinction.

32. GEELONG - Tom Sheridan
Height:
185cm
Weight: 76kg
DOB: 28/10/93
Club: Calder Cannons
Draft range: 20-35
Sheridan is every chance to be gone by here, but if he remains the Cats will find the onballer's versatility, work ethic and endurance hard to pass by. Sheridan was played predominantly as an inside midfielder this season, but he has filled more of an outside role in the past. His quick-give by hand brings teammates into the play and he has also shown strong leadership potential with the Cannons.

33. HAWTHORN - Alex Forster
Height:
189cm
Weight: 81kg
DOB: 14/7/93
Club: Norwood
Draft range: 25-35
Forster was an All Australian half-back flanker at the national carnival who does most things well. He's a busy, team-oriented defender who kicks the ball well off both feet and will quickly win the favour of Alastair Clarkson with his willingness to chase, tackle and smother. Played senior SANFL footy with the Redlegs and didn't look out of place.

34. GEELONG - Andrew Boseley
Height:
192cm
Weight: 75kg
DOB: 4/9/92
Club: Geelong Falcons
Draft range: 30-50
Boseley impressed as an over-age player for the Falcons this year and was one of Vic Country's more important players despite carrying a shoulder injury for much of the season. He's very quick and not afraid to take off and go for a run out of defence. He's still a touch on the skinny side, but the Cats won't need to call on him to play immediately, so he can spend some time in the gym while he learns the art of playing full-back from Matthew Scarlett.

35. ST KILDA - Mitch Grigg
Height: 182cm
Weight:
82kg
DOB: 2/1/93
Club: Norwood
Draft range: 20-35
The SA onballer with the big left boot had an excellent championships for the Croweaters and broke through to play some senior SANFL footy this year. He's a powerfully built lad who is a long, accurate kick - a trait in high demand at St Kilda in this draft. His lack of burst speed is what sees him drop down the order slightly, but he has a calm head in traffic and will prove an excellent addition to the Saints' midfield mix.

36. MELBOURNE - Josh Tynan
Height:
186cm
Weight: 76kg
DOB: 6/11/93
Club: Gippsland Power
Draft range: 35-50
Tynan is a hard-at-it defender-midfielder whose poise under pressure will really add to the Demons' mix in the back half. His strength overhead allows him to play on taller opponents, he has a good turn of speed and reads the play well. He's just the sort of player that new coach Mark Neeld will be keen to get into the club.

37. ST KILDA - Kyal Horsely
Height:
182cm
Weight: 88kg
DOB: 2/9/87
Club: Subiaco
Draft range: 35-55
Horsley, a strong-bodied midfielder, has attracted interest from several clubs after winning Subiaco's best and fairest count and coming second in the Sandover Medal. It's the Saints who pounce, with new coach Scott Watters bringing the player he mentored during his tenure at Subiaco into the fold for his first season at the helm.

38. HAWTHORN - Justin Clarke
Height:
195cm
Weight: 83kg
DOB: 18/11/93
Club: Booleroo-Melrose-Wilmington
Draft range: 35-rookie
Clarke has come from the clouds in the tradition of the true smokey from the country. Several clubs travelled to Booleroo Centre, three-and-a-half hours' drive north of Adelaide, to watch the tall defender play earlier in the year and the Hawks liked what they saw. The addition of Clarke, along with former Bulldog Jarrad Boumann, possibly frees up Ryan Schoenmakers to the forward half where he played most of his junior footy.

39. WESTERN BULLDOGS - Joel Hamling
Height:
194cm
Weight: 80kg
DOB: 9/4/93
Club: Claremont
Draft range: 25-40
Hamling is a bit of a project player, but his athleticism, vertical leap and pace off the mark make him an exciting prospect. He represented WA at the national carnival and has also spent some time in defence for Claremont. The Dogs need to bolster their tall forward stocks and Hamling is an excellent addition to help kick off the Brendan McCartney era.

40. NORTH MELBOURNE - Tom Curran
Height:
193cm
Weight: 90kg
DOB: 18/9/93
Club: Oakleigh Chargers
Draft range: 30-45
Curran was really unlucky not to be taken on by the Hawks as a father-son pick, but he gets his chance with the Roos instead. He took the bad news from Hawthorn on the chin and is determined to prove himself. His ability to play at both ends of the ground will really appeal to the Kangaroos, who need to bring through some more key position talent. He had a hotspot in his foot that didn't allow him to test at the combine, but indications are it won't linger too long into his first AFL pre-season.

41. ADELAIDE - Sam Frost
Height:
194cm
Weight: 84kg
DOB: 28/8/93
Club: Sandringham Dragons
Draft range: 27-45
The Crows will have given serious consideration to Frost with their first pick and are delighted to bring him into the fold, having bolstered their midfield with Kerridge. Frost is something of a project given his late arrival to football and his kicking will need some work, but his size, athleticism, courage and work ethic make him worth the effort. Despite the exodus of talls at West Lakes, Daniel Talia, Ben Rutten, Luke Thompson and Tom Lynch should allow Frost to complete an apprenticeship before being blooded.

42. ST KILDA - Henry Schade
Height:
196cm
Weight: 81kg
DOB: 8/10/93
Club: North Hobart
Draft range: 30-45
Having added a key forward and two mids, the Saints look to their key defensive posts and swoop on Schade. The Tasmanian full-back is an impressive size and his courageous play with the North Hobart Demons has won him plenty of admirers. His willingness to attack the ball carrier saw him knocked out in the dying seconds of a game the Demons had well in their keeping late in the season. With Zac Dawson departing, the Saints have a key defender to groom for the future.

43. SYDNEY SWANS - Jack Crisp
Height:
190cm
Weight: 83kg
DOB: 2/10/93
Club: Murray Bushrangers
Draft range: 40-60
Crisp really helped himself with an excellent draft combine, but there's more to him than his athleticism. He has an excellent endurance base and he uses that to constantly chase and tackle when he's not in possession. He averaged 19 disposals and seven tackles a game for the Bushrangers this year, with a season-high 13 against the Rebels. He has the sort of work ethic that goes down well in the Harbour City.

44. CARLTON - Fraser McInnes
Height:
196cm
Weight: 91kg
DOB: 19/7/93
Club: Perth
Draft range: 25-45
McInnes is an excellent tall prospect that many have rated higher than this, but he falls into Carlton's lap here. The West Australian left footer joins the growing batch of talls in the nursery at Visy Park, where his versatility will be a huge bonus. He couldn't showcase his talents for WA at the national championships due to an ankle injury and his absence was a key reason for the team's struggles.

45. PORT ADELAIDE - Shane Nelson
Height:
177cm
Weight: 69kg
DOB: 11/5/93
Club: West Perth
Draft range: 30-45
Nelson is every chance to be gone by this spot, but Port will do well to add the tireless onballer at this point in the draft. The West Australian midfielder is a proven ball winner - he averaged 22 possessions at 71 per cent efficiency at the championships - who will run all day and can also go forward. He displayed blazing speed at the combine, topped the Nathan Buckley kicking test and ranked inside the top 10 for agility.

46. ADELAIDE - Tom Downie
Height:
205cm
Weight: 95kg
DOB: 27/4/93
Club: North Ballarat Rebels
Draft range: 40-rookie
A lot of clubs will have been tempted by Downie, and the ruck-needy Crows take the plunge at 46. It's a risk given the Rebel giant's lack of exposed form, but the little he was able to show in just two games for North Ballarat coupled with his 14.1 beep test at the combine makes him worth a punt here for the Crows, who have Sam Jacobs and untried Josh Jenkins as the only ruckmen on their primary list.

47. BRISBANE LIONS - Jordan Kelly
Height:
192cm
Weight: 81kg
DOB: 27/6/93
Club: Dandenong Stingrays
Draft range: 35-55
Kelly is a real competitor who we didn't see the best of this year due to injury. That's seen his stocks fall a little, but the Lions will do well to bring him in to boost their key defensive stocks here. He is strong in a one-on-one contest and disposes of the ball cleanly. It won't be beyond him to play some senior footy next year if his body stays sound.

48. GEELONG- Jackson Merrett
Height:
187cm
Weight: 70kg
DOB: 27/2/93
Club: Geelong Falcons
Draft range: 20-35
The Cats stick with a local lad again with their third pick and add a quick midfielder in Merrett. He'll also need to spend some time in the gym, but his work ethic and ability to break the lines appeal. He represented Vic Country and averaged 24 disposals across 16 games for the Falcons.

49. WESTERN BULLDOGS - Jimmy Webster
Height:
188cm
Weight: 74kg
DOB: 28/6/93
Club: Glenorchy
Draft range: 35-55
Webster is a long-kicking left footer whose run and carry off a wing appeals to the Dogs. He was restricted to just two games at the championships by injury, but finished the season playing senior footy for Glenorchy. He can add some real dash and quality delivery inside 50.

50. COLLINGWOOD - Julian Dobosz
Height:
191cm
Weight: 82kg
DOB: 17/11/92
Club: North Hobart
Draft range: 40-70
Dobosz struggled to get a proper pre-season under his belt this year, but he still made quite a splash at the national carnival with a bag of seven goals against Vic Country. He backed that up with another seven-goal haul in a game at senior level for North Hobart toward the end of the season and will provide some tall depth behind Travis Cloke and Chris Dawes while he learns the ropes.

51. PORT ADELAIDE - Zyrus Manson
Height:
191cm
Weight: 77kg
DOB: 24/4/93
Club: Waratahs
Draft range: 20-60
Zyrus 'Waylen' Manson was the true wildcard of this draft and it's the Power that throws their lot in with the gifted forward from tiny Billiluna community south-east of Halls Creek in outback Western Australia. Manson has been kicking bags of goals for Waratahs in Darwin, but Port knows it will need to provide the right environment for Manson to thrive down south. If they can get that right then it will be worth the gamble.

52. MELBOURNE - Haiden Schloithe
Height:
179cm
Weight: 72kg
DOB: 16/6/93
Club: South Fremantle
Draft range: 40-60
Schloithe is a very quick half-forward flanker who absolutely loves to attack the ball carrier when not in possession. He registered 16 tackles in a colts game for South Fremantle this season with that sort of work ethic making him a very desirable commodity at Melbourne.

53. HAWTHORN - Brett O'Hanlon
Height:
189cm
Weight: 87kg
DOB: 17/07/93
Club: Dandenong Stingrays
Draft range: 40-60
O'Hanlon has exceptional hands and is very strong overhead. He represented Vic Country at the national carnival and kicked 31 goals for Dandenong in 17 games. He's a lovely, long left-foot kick and has the ability to push further up the ground.

54. MELBOURNE - Josh Waldhuter
Height:
183cm
Weight: 84kg
DOB: 15/3/93
Club: Central District
Draft range: 45-65
Waldhuter is a tough, team-first mid who the Demons will find difficult to let slip despite not having added any tall timber at this draft. He gets after the ball carrier like he was born to do nothing else, but he also runs a sub-3s 20m sprint, so he's no inside plodder.

55. RICHMOND - Addam Maric
The Tigers bring the former Demon into the fold with pick 55. Maric was a highly rated junior who never hit his straps at Melbourne and will be a shrewd pick-up if Punt Road is just the change of environment he needs to kick start his career.

56. GREATER WESTERN SYDNEY - Nick O'Brien
Height:
188cm
Weight: 91kg
DOB: 26/6/93
Club: North Ballarat Rebels
Draft range: 40-60
O'Brien is a lead-up forward with a tank big enough to allow him repeated efforts. He took 32 marks in five games for Vic Country, but didn't hit the scoreboard as he would have liked. The Giants have got some giants inside forward 50, but O'Brien will bring something a bit different.

57. WESTERN BULLDOGS - Alex Woodward
Height:
175cm
Weight: 80kg
DOB: 11/6/93
Club: Sandringham Dragons
Draft range: 40-60
Woodward has laboured under the misconception that he's a bit slow because he's an inside mid, but he laid that to rest at the combine with a 2.89s in the 20m sprint. He's a team-oriented onballer who averaged 26 possessions at an efficiency rating of 70 per cent with the Dragons and has strong leadership potential.

58. FREMANTLE - Brad Hill
Height:
179cm
Weight: 71kg
DOB: 9/7/93
Club: West Perth
Draft range: 40-60
Hill put up some outstanding numbers at the combine, but he still has a way to go before his skills are comparable to those of his brother Stephen. Still, a 16.1 beep test, a 2.88s 20m sprint and a 9:52 3km time trial are not numbers to be sniffed at. Freo brings him into the fold to learn the ropes alongside big brother.

59. ESSENDON - Myles Bolger
Height:
201cm
Weight: 95kg
DOB: 25/3/93
Club: South Fremantle
Draft range: 45-65
James Hird has spoken of his desire to add another ruckman at this draft and he gets his man at 59. Bolger has battled foot injuries as he's grown over the past two years, but he recovered in time to play all five games for WA at the national carnival where he averaged 17 hit-outs. He really hit his straps for South Fremantle colts late in the season and had 39 hit-outs in the Bulldogs' grand final win.

60. ST KILDA - Lauchlan Dalgleish
Height:
185cm
Weight: 77kg
DOB: 22/6/93
Club: North Ballarat Rebels
Draft range: 40-70
The Saints add some real dash, with the Rebels' speedster noted for finishing third in a heat of the Stawell Gift. There's more in his bag of tricks than just pace, however, with his long kicking off his left boot an asset.

61. Sydney Swans - Frazer Dale
Height:
187cm
Weight: 77kg
DOB: 10/11/93
Club: Calder Cannons
Draft range: 45-65
The Swans like what they see in the hard-working swingman who improved out of sight this season. He has good hands and makes good decisions coming out of defence.

62. Carlton - Dylan Buckley (father-son)
Height:
176cm
Weight: 69kg
DOB: 16/3/93
Club: Northern Knights
Draft range: Carlton father-son selection)
Buckley is a quick outside midfielder who hasn't played much football this year due to persistent foot/ankle injuries. As a result, the Blues only have to spend their last pick in the draft on him and they'll be hopeful a full AFL pre-season will bring the best out in him.

63. West Coast - Ashton Hams (rookie elevation)

64. Adelaide - Cameron Ellis-Yolmen
Height:
189cm
Weight: 91kg
DOB: 28/1/93
Club: Woodville-West Torrens
Draft range: 40-65
The Crows were undecided whether to use this pick or dip into the pre-season draft, but Ellis-Yolmen's availability should be enough to sway them. In his first year back from a serious knee injury, Ellis-Yolmen played one game for his state at the national carnival, with one talent watcher likening his skill set to that of a young Adam Goodes.

65. Collingwood - Brody Mihocek
Height:
191cm
Weight: 86kg
DOB: 4/2/93
Club: Burnie Dockers
Draft range: 40-65
It's something of a surprise to see the Tasmanian down this low, but the Pies will happily add the fierce competitor to their mix. Mihocek was All Australian at the national carnival and impressed with his attack on the ball. He reads the play well as a defender and fights hard for the ball when playing in attack.

66. Geelong - Marley Williams
Height:
181cm
Weight: 81kg
DOB: 22/7/93
Club: Claremont
Draft range: 45-rookie
The smart West Australian small forward/midfielder with the rock star name is a good get here. Williams knows how to get himself in the right positions on the ground, he has a big left foot on him for a smaller guy and excellent goal sense.

67. Collingwood - Jarrod Witts (NSW Scholarship)

68. St Kilda - Jackson Paine
Height:
191cm
Weight: 92kg
DOB: 21/6/93
Club: Sandringham Dragons
Draft range: 40-70
Paine divides opinion among recruiters, but there's no doubting his competitive nature. He played as a second tall in tandem with Jonathon Patton for Vic Metro during the carnival and puts on good pressure inside 50 for a big guy, so he's well worth a look for the Saints here.

69. Brisbane Lions - Mitch Golby (rookie elevation)

70. Western Bulldogs - Luke Dahlhaus (rookie elevation)

71. Fremantle - Simon Tunbridge
Height:
191cm
Weight: 92kg
DOB: 2/4/93
Club: Perth
Draft range: 50-75
Freo gets a little freebie here, with Tunbridge walking out on the Giants after a year on their list citing homesickness. Collingwood was reported to have had a crack at luring him to Melbourne, but it appears the versatile tall is homeward bound.

72. Fremantle - pass

73. Western Bulldogs - Matthew Panos (rookie elevation)

74. North Melbourne - Luke Delaney (rookie elevation)

75. Essendon - Stewart Crameri (rookie elevation)

76. St Kilda - Jason Blake
The Saints were required to delist Blake to remove him from the veterans' list for salary cap reasons, and move him back onto the primary list with this pick.

77. Hawthorn - Luke Breust (rookie elevation)

78. Geelong - Jai Sheahan
Height:
195cm
Weight: 82kg
DOB: 27/1/93
Club: Geelong Falcons
Draft range: 60-rookie
Could the Cats really raid the Falcons three times in one draft? In a draft like this it just might happen. They give the big kid from Newtown the chance to show he might be able to fill Cam Mooney's boots one day.

79. Greater Western Sydney - Damian Mascitti
Height:
190cm
Weight: 82kg
DOB: 18/8/92
Club: Oakleigh
Draft range: 50-rookie
Mascitti gets a chance to strike a blow for natural footballers everywhere with his selection by the Giants. The lead-up forward has a lot of work to do on the training track, but his elite kicking skills earn him a spot.

80. Gold Coast - Alik Magin (rookie elevation)

81. Port Adelaide - pass

82. Adelaide - Aiden Riley (rookie elevation)

83. Fremantle - Nick Lower (rookie elevation)

84. North Melbourne - Cameron Pederson (rookie elevation)

85. Sydney Swans - Nathan Gordon (rookie elevation)

86. Geelong - Jed Bews (father-son)
Height:
182cm
Weight: 78kg
DOB: 14/12/93
Club: Geelong Falcons
Draft range: Geelong father-son selection
Jed is a different player to his father Andrew, with Falcons region manager Michael Turner casting him more in the mould of Corey Enright while the draft combine was on. He ran a sub-3s 20m sprint at the combine and ranked inside the top 10 in the repeat sprint testing.

87. Greater Western Sydney - Ben Brown
Height:
199cm
Weight: 93kg
DOB: 20/11/92
Club: Glenorchy
Draft range: 50-rookie
The Giants obviously have plenty of picks, so they can afford to take a punt on the talented but injury-prone ruck prospect from Glenorchy. Brown represented Tasmania at the championships and provided a glimpse of what he's capable of with a 17-possession, three-goal performance.

88. Gold Coast - Alex Sexton (zone selection)

89. Adelaide - Matthew Wright (rookie elevation)

90. Greater Western Sydney - Cam Eardley
Height:
180cm
Weight: 80kg
DOB: 24/6/93
Club: East Fremantle
Draft range: 50-rookie
Eardley is a hard-working all-rounder with elite endurance and nice skills who deserves a chance at the next level.

91. Gold Coast - Jackson Allen
(zone selection)

92. Greater Western Sydney - Jack Newnes
Height:
184cm
Weight: 74kg
DOB: 24/2/93
Club: Northern Knights
Draft range: 50-rookie
The Giants pick themselves up another flanker-winger prospect in Jack Newnes. He's an excellent kick and has good endurance.

93. Greater Western Sydney - Fletcher Roberts
Height:
193cm
Weight: 80kg
DOB: 3/6/93
Club: Sandringham Dragons
Draft range: 50-rookie
The Giants round out their inaugural draft with Sandringham tall Fletcher Roberts. He played a lot in the ruck for the Dragons, but won't be able to at the next level at his height. He's shown enough playing a key role to warrant selection however.
