The matchups for week one of the 2020 Toyota AFL Finals Series

The AFL has today confirmed the fixture for Week One of the 2020 Toyota AFL Finals Series, to be as follows:

Thursday October 1
First Qualifying Final, Port Adelaide v Geelong Cats at Adelaide Oval, 7.40pm EST / 7:10pm CST

Friday October 2
Second Qualifying Final, Brisbane Lions v Richmond at The Gabba, 7.50pm EST

Saturday October 3
Second Elimination Final, St Kilda v Western Bulldogs at The Gabba, 4.40pm EST

First Elimination Final, West Coast Eagles vs Collingwood at Optus Stadium, 8.10pm EST / 6.10pm WST

All matches in week one of the Toyota AFL Finals Series will be broadcast live nationally on the Seven Network, Fox Footy and streamed live on Kayo and via AFL Live Pass with thanks to Telstra.

AFL General Manager of Clubs and Broadcasting Travis Auld said the AFL was seeking to maximise attendance and audiences, along with considering relevant club preferences and balancing equitable day-breaks where possible for all clubs in the finals.

He said the AFL had again chosen to open the Finals Series with a Thursday night match, after the success in recent years of this timeslot with both attendance and television viewership, and this game would be played at Adelaide Oval on Thursday October 1 with Port Adelaide to host Geelong.

The Second Qualifying Final between the Brisbane Lions and reigning premier Richmond will be played at The Gabba on Friday night, with the loser of that match to then play the winner of St Kilda v Western Bulldogs in week 2.

Mr Auld said the St Kilda vs Western Bulldogs match at The Gabba took into consideration St Kilda’s request to play that venue as they finished above the Western Bulldogs on the ladder.

Optus Stadium will host the First Elimination Final between West Coast Eagles and Collingwood. As the match is scheduled for Saturday, Collingwood will remain in Queensland until this Friday, September 25, before flying to Perth to complete a 7-day quarantine period prior to the match.

The winner of that match will play the loser of Port Adelaide and Geelong.
