Contact between Collingwood’s Dale Thomas and the Geelong Cats’ Harry Taylor from the second quarter of Friday’s match was assessed. The panel said it was their view that Thomas was coming in to contest the ball when he made contact with player Taylor. The Collingwood player had his hands on the ball when contact was made and it was a legitimate attempt to gather the ball. No further action was taken.
Contact between St Kilda’s Nick Dal Santo and the Western Bulldogs’ Callan Ward from the third quarter of Saturday’s match was assessed. Ward was pursuing the football and runs into Dal Santo, who has planted himself in position to gather the football. It was the view of the panel, after receiving a medical report on player Ward and his ability to immediately take his free kick, that the force in the contact was below that required to constitute a reportable offence.
Contact between St Kilda’s Brendon Goddard and the Western Bulldogs’ Liam Picken from the third quarter of Saturday’s match was assessed. The panel said the two players were preparing to contest a marking situation in the St Kilda forward line. Goddard’s eyes were on the flight of the ball when high contact was made. It was the view of the panel that his action was not a striking motion and no further action was required.
