WITH the rebel VFLW kicking off in earnest next week, most of the teams are taking a week off in preparation for the real stuff, but there is still one big match scheduled for Saturday morning.
The Western Derby between Western Bulldogs and Williamstown will kick off a double-header at Braybrook’s Skinner Reserve, with Footscray and Casey Demons to follow.
The Bulldogs will take in a similar but streamlined squad to the one that lost to Geelong last week, with recruit Brianna McFarlane the only inclusion, while Dom Carruthers, Kate McCarthy and Paige Cook are among those to sit this one out.
Star Williamstown recruit Aleisha Newman will play her first game of the season, with Eliza Straford, Lori Stepnell, Mikayla Barnes and Thalia Wright also coming into the team, with Ellie Huggard being the main omission.
Entry to the double header is free and open to the public.
