The St Kilda Football Club has today appointed a selection panel and a specialist advisory group to recruit a new senior coach.

The selection panel will meet for the first time tonight (Tuesday) with members of the St Kilda Football Club executive team to commence the recruitment process.

The St Kilda Football Club has undergone a significant period of growth and improvement over the last two years and this appointment is an important part of that progress going forward.

The recruitment program will be systematic and comprehensive and is expected to be complete in approximately four weeks.

The composition of the selection panel and the specialist advisory group reflects the values and qualities that are important to the St Kilda Football Club.

The selection panel will consist of:
- CEO, Michael Nettlefold;
- Head of Football, Chris Pelchen;
- Director and past-player, Nathan Burke; and
- NSW Institute of Sport Manager Coaching, Athlete and Program Services, Clare Prideaux.

The selection panel will be assisted by a specialist advisory group consisting of:
- Former AFL player, Brad Johnson will advise on football matters;
- Director and Managing Director of Coles, Ian McLeod who will advise on commercial matters; and
- Bluestone Edge Director, Pippa Grange who will advise on people, culture and leadership matters.

The members of the selection panel and the specialist advisory group have the experience and the skills to select the best person for the job.

The St Kilda Football Club is firmly focused on the future and is determined to put in place the best structure to maximize performance in the modern competition.

Selection Panel

Michael Nettlefold
Chief Executive Officer, St Kilda Football Club

Michael originally joined the St Kilda Football Club Board in 2000. In 2009, Michael was appointed St Kilda CEO after the departure of Archie Fraser and remains on the Board as Executive Director.

Michael played 43 matches for the St Kilda Football Club between 1979 and 1983 (in addition to 31 matches for Fitzroy Football Club).

Nathan Burke
Director, St Kilda Football Club

Nathan is a life member of the St Kilda Football Club, the Australian Football League and the Monash University Sports Hall of Fame.

Nathan played 323 games and kicked 123 goals for the St Kilda Football Club from 1987-2003. Three time Best & Fairest winner, Captain and Grand Final player, Nathan joined the St Kilda Football Club Board in late 2007.

Chris Pelchen
Head of Football, St Kilda Football Club

Chris Pelchen has over 28 years experience within the AFL. Most recently, Chris held the position of General Manager of Player Personnel and Strategy within the Hawthorn Football Club.

Overall, Chris was with the Hawks for 14 years, the Port Adelaide Football Club for 9 years and involved in four premierships (1989, 1991, 2004 and 2008) under four different coaches.

Clare Prideaux
Manager Coaching, Athlete and Program Services, New South Wales Institute of Sport
Clare is currently responsible for the recruitment, development, performance and succession management of High Performance coaches within a variety of organisations.

Clare is a former Hockeyroo who has experienced all levels of elite sport including playing, coaching, administration and education.

Brad Johnson
Former Captain, Western Bulldogs Football Club

Brad Johnson retired from professional football in 2010 after playing a record 364 games for the Western Bulldogs.

Six times All-Australian, three times Best & Fairest and Captain from 2006-2010, Brad has continued his involvement with the modern game through his work with the AFL and on Fox Sports.

Ian McLeod
Director, St Kilda Football Club

Ian McLeod is the current Managing Director of Coles Limited, responsible for the Coles Supermarkets, Liquor and Convenience businesses.

Ian was chief executive of Scotland’s Celtic Football Club from 2001-2003. Since moving to Australia, Ian has become a Board Director of Melbourne Victory and has been on the Board of St Kilda Football Club since 2009.

Pippa Grange
Director of Bluestone Edge

A Doctor of Applied Psychology, with over eleven years experience in the public and private sectors, Pippa has worked primarily within elite sport in the areas of psychology, culture and leadership.

Pippa has worked across a number of sports, notably AFL football over the last six years. Current clients include elite sports clubs, player associations, sports administrators, non-government organisations and corporate and private businesses.
