Richmond defender Joel Bowden has elected to contest the charge laid against him by the AFL match review panel, but Bomber Adam McPhee and Cat Cameron Mooney have both accepted one match penalties.

Bowden was charged with a level three striking offence for his contact with Melbourne's Daniel Ward during the fourth quarter of last Friday night's match at the MCG.

The incident was reckless conduct (two points), medium impact (two points), in play (no points) and high contact (two points). This is a total of six activation points, which relates to a level three offence, drawing 225 points and a two-match sanction.

He has a five-year good record, which reduces his penalty by 25 per cent to 168.75 points and a one-match sanction.
Bowden will appear before the AFL Tribunal at a hearing on Tuesday evening.

McPhee will miss Saturday's crucial clash against Carlton after accepting a one-game sanction for striking Saint Robert Harvey during the first quarter Saturday's match at the MCG.

Mooney opted to accept his one-game sanction for striking Port Adelaide forward Josh Mahoney during the second quarter of the match played at Skilled Stadium on Sunday.

Mooney will miss Sunday's important match against the Western Bulldogs at Telstra Dome.
