NAB League Boys Wildcard Round pits the 10 teams placed from fourth to 13th on the ladder following last week’s final home-and-away round against each other in effective elimination finals. See the team line-ups for all games here.

In Wildcard Round, the fourth-placed team will face 13th, fifth will meet 12th and so on, with the five winners advancing to the four-week finals series proper commencing next week.

The top three teams on the ladder post-Round 17 – the Eastern Ranges (1st), Gippsland Power (2nd) and Oakleigh Chargers (3rd) – earned a bye for Wildcard Round ahead of their upcoming qualifying finals.

Wildcard Round begins with a double-header at Preston City Oval on Saturday. For the first leg, the Geelong Falcons (13th) welcome top-age leader Charlie Harris as well as bottom-agers Max Annandale and Cameron Fleeton into their squad for an encounter with the Sandringham Dragons (4th), while the Northern Knights (6th) have brought in over-age players Bailey Leonard and Ayce Taylor for their clash with the Bendigo Pioneers (11th) in the second leg.

The Tasmania Devils (12th) will be without highly-rated bottom-agers Sam Collins and Oliver Davis for their match against the Calder Cannons (5th) at Rams Arena on Sunday but gain top-age co-captain Jared Dakin for his first NAB League outing of 2019 following a serious shoulder injury.

Meanwhile on Sunday, Box Hill City Oval will host the weekend’s second double-header featuring the Western Jets (7th) taking on the GWV Rebels (10th) and the Dandenong Stingrays (8th) coming up against the Murray Bushrangers (9th), with hard-running Rebels bottom-ager Harry Sharp among the ins for the teams in action.
