North Melbourne recruit and Werribee premiership player Zac Banch joins Joe Pignataro and Gemma Bastiani on State of Play.

It's been a whirlwind 18 months for the lively forward since being cut by Williamstown following two VFL appearances in 2023.

Banch joined rival Werribee and went on to become an important part of the club's premiership team, playing his first game in Round 8 and going on to boot 16 goals in 15 appearances, including a great running goal in the Grand Final win over Southport.

He further elevated his game in 2025 to catch the eye of recruiters, with North Melbourne selecting him at pick 2 in the Mid-Season Rookie Draft. Ironically, his first game for the Roos was against Werribee at Melbourne Avalon Airport Oval.

In addition to the chat with Banch, Joe and Gemma also discuss:

- A Super Saturday of comebacks in the Smithy's VFL
- Charlie West is firmly in line for an AFL debut after kicking six in the Magpies win over Sandringham, including the match-winner after the final siren
- Geelong's drought-breaking win in the rebel VFLW after 421 days
- Is this Nike Dojiok's most consistent season of footy?
- Season-defining weekend coming up in Round 10 of the rebel VFLW
- Games you can't sleep on in Round 14 of the Smithy's VFL
