EMERGING Carlton forward Harry McKay has signed a two-year contract extension.

The new deal ties the 20-year-old to the Blues until at least the end of the 2021 season.

McKay was drafted by Carlton at pick No.10 in the 2015 NAB AFL Draft, alongside his twin brother Ben, who was selected by North Melbourne with pick 21.

His first two seasons were marred with injury and illness, but a string of good performance in the VFL finally earned him a senior debut in round 18 against Brisbane last year.

But the 200cm forward had to wait until round five in 2018 to push his way into the senior side, where he managed to play 13 games for the season.

He kicked 21 goals last season, finishing second in the club’s goal kicking behind young star Charlie Curnow.

McKay joins the likes of co-captain Patrick Cripps, former skipper Marc Murphy, Curnow and top draft pick Paddy Dow in re-signing with the club in 2018.

McKay, who turns 21 on Christmas eve, said he's confidence in the direction the Blues were heading made it an easy decision to extend his contract.

"We're a tight-knit playing group and I want to be working hard alongside these boys to bring success to our club once again," McKay said.

"Seeing so many of the boys re-sign this year is a clear sign that we want to stick together and do everything we possibly can for our members and supporters, to make this next era an exciting one for us all.

"I know I still have a lot of hard work ahead of me to get to where I want to be as a player and that will be my focus in 2019 – to continue to learn as much as I can from the coaches and my teammates so that I can take that next step in my career."
