SAM DARCY has claimed the 2025 Virgin Australia AFL Mark of the Year with his courageous, match-saving grab in Round 22.

Darcy beat his Western Bulldogs teammate Buku Khamis and North Melbourne’s Zac Banch to be awarded the Alex Jesaulenko Medal at Monday night’s Brownlow Medal Count.

The high-flying forward took to the skies at the MCG in the final minute of the match against Melbourne to help keep the Western Bulldogs' finals hopes alive.

As the winner of the 2025 Virgin Australia AFL Mark of the Year, Darcy receives $50,000 and two million Velocity Points thanks to Virgin Australia.

Virgin Australia Executive Libby Minogue said the airline was thrilled to sponsor the award and make the winner a Velocity Points millionaire.

"As the official airline of the AFL, we are proud to have flown over one thousand players and coaches from all 18 clubs to their games across the country this year," Minogue said.

"A huge congratulations to Sam Darcy for his well-deserved winning mark.

"We are delighted to award Sam with two million Velocity Points, which is enough Points to redeem return Business Class Reward Seats on our network that includes over 600 destinations around the world."

Darcy’s mark was voted the overall winner by a combination of votes from the AFL All Australian Panel and the public.

Everyone who voted for their favourite mark also went in the running to win $5,000 thanks to Virgin Australia.
