ESSENDON has added Shaun Edwards to its list of delistings, cutting the former Giant after three seasons at the club.

Edwards managed just 12 games at the Bombers since crossing to the club at the end of 2013 after two years and 12 senior appearances at Greater Western Sydney.

The speedy half-forward showed glimpses of his talent at different stages near goal, particularly last year under former coach James Hird, but struggled for consistency.

He was tried in different areas of the ground this season, including off half-back at stages, but managed just three games for the club in 2016 despite its wooden-spoon finish.

"Shaun is a great role model who constantly strives to make a difference both on and off the field," Essendon football manager Rob Kerr said.

"He is well respected by his teammates and will always be welcome at Essendon. On behalf of everyone at the club we wish him all the very best for his future."

Edwards joined the Bombers alongside Kurt Aylett, another Giant, as part of a trade in 2013.

The Bombers have already cut Jason Ashby and James Gwilt, while Tayte Pears and Adam Cooney have retired.
