AFTER starring in a match dominated by the kids, it's fitting Fremantle's Brennan Cox is the round 12 NAB AFL Rising Star nominee.

The key forward booted four goals in Fremantle's upset three-point win over Adelaide on Sunday, which was notable for the contribution made by the Dockers' youngsters in the absence of senior guns Nathan Fyfe and Aaron Sandilands.

It was Cox's 16th game of his career, having made his debut against Brisbane in round 12 last year.

He has now played five straight after breaking into the side in round seven.

The 19-year-old finished with 19 disposals, seven marks (two contested) and five tackles along with his career-high four goals.

Cox was pleased to hit the scoreboard accurately, after going into the match with a goalkicking record of eight goals and 17 behinds.

"I was lucky enough to get in the right position and take a few marks and I was able to kick straight, which has been a bit of a struggle lately," Cox told fremantlefc.com.au.

"I've been working on my goalkicking at training and after hours, but finally it's paid off in this game."

Fremantle drafted Cox with pick 41 in 2016 from South Australian side Woodville-West Torrens.

This is Fremantle's first Rising Star nominee this season. Its most recent was Luke Ryan in round 20, 2017.
