May had been an inaugural member of the panel formed in 2018 and served for two seasons.

"Stephen [Coniglio] is an outstanding leader of his club and a genuine role model of our game, and we look forward to his contribution as a member of the Competition Committee," AFL head of football Steve Hocking said.

"An impressive footballer on the field, Stephen works equally hard off the field to progress the game at all levels and was last year recognised for this service by being awarded the Jim Stynes Community Leadership Award.

"Stephen's passion and commitment to promote Australian Football in Western Sydney is truly impressive and his unique insights in this space will be of great value to the committee."

Brisbane's Chris Fagan will be the only coach this season after Competition Committee member Brad Scott departed North Melbourne. However, Scott will remain part of the group in his new role as AFL Evolution Manager.

Rob Auld has been added as the AFL's Head of Competition Management, while the remaining members from last year are intact ahead of the first meeting on Wednesday.
