It was with mixed feelings that the West Coast Eagles Movember Team parted ways with their carefully manicured moustaches this afternoon, with Chris Masten, Matt Rosa and Sam Butler actually deciding to hang onto their upper-lip efforts for the time being.

For 30 days, over 20 Eagles ditched their razors to help change the face of men’s health and raise awareness of issues like prostate cancer and depression.
Thanks to the generosity of family members, friends and West Coast supporters, the team was able to raise over $2,500 for the Prostate Cancer Foundation and beyondblue, with rookie Ashton Hams leading the charge at $350.
The boys were keen to take Hams down a peg or two during this afternoon’s shave-off, applying the shaving cream a little too liberally.
“They did pick on me a little bit during the shave-off, I think it’s the height thing,” Hams joked.
“I was pretty happy to get rid of the mo today, it was getting really annoying. I had it in Cambodia and it got pretty sweaty. Whenever I’d have a milo I’d get a bit of milk and milo in it, so it was getting quite dirty.”
Movember team leader Josh Kennedy said the initiative was close to his heart.
“It’s a great cause to raise awareness for and it’s a bit of fun as well,” Kennedy said. “I actually noticed yesterday when I was out and about, there were heaps of people with the moes and it ranges from young blokes to some older guys as well.
“We had a fair few boys get into it at the club and there were some good moes getting around, some seedy, and some that weren’t even there.
“Best-on-ground was either Hamsy or Rosa. Hamsy’s mo made him look about 45 and Rosa’s looked like a 1960s porn star. Worst-on would have to go to Luke Shuey. He started at the beginning of October and he still didn’t have anything by the end of November, so it was a pretty terrible effort.”
The West Coast Eagles would like to thank all fans who donated to our Movember team and supported this worthy cause.
