The continued development of Andrew Walker in 2006 has been a real highlight for all Carlton supporters and a reminded as to why he was such a highly regarded Under 18 player just three years ago. His great leap, his ability to run with the ball and his general ball skills have certainly made him a real excitement machine for the Blues. Such is his development that the Carlton fans suggest he is a true entertainer when he struts his stuff on the field.

Last Thursday it was Andrew who was the onlooker as Ben Harper performed at the Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne. Andrew and his brother Ben are big Ben Harper fans and took the opportunity to see his concert while he was in Melbourne. Of course as well as being music fans, the Walker brothers are also musicians as we all saw in the “Footy Show Screamers” in 2005.

Making the night even more memorable for Andrew was the opportunity to go back stage after the show to meet and chat with Ben Harper. And chat they did, for almost an hour and while this confirmed Andrew’s appreciation of the great entertainer, likewise it resulted in Ben Harper becoming an Andrew Walker fan and as such a Carlton fan. So much so that he tried to alter his flight on Sunday from Perth to Sydney via Melbourne but was unable to make the changes. The reason he was keen to get to Melbourne is that he wanted to be at the MCG to see Andrew Walker and the Carlton Football Club in action.

So while Andrew Walker was enjoying a very special night of entertainment he was also recruiting for the Carlton Football Club, adding a very special supporter to the thousands of Carlton fans all over the world.
