FRANKSTON’s hopes of getting its season back on track received a boost with stars Nathan Freeman and Bailey Lambert both recalled for the Dolphins’ VFL showdown with reigning premier Richmond on Thursday night – should the game go ahead.

Freeman missed the Dolphins’ loss to Footscray last week with knee soreness, while former Tiger Lambert has sat out the past two weeks with a calf injury.

However, their returns have been offset by the loss of Anthony Brolic, Ash Krakauer and Jack Mentha among four changes as Frankston aims to break a three-match losing streak.

Richmond has named a significantly weaker team than the one which thrashed the Brisbane Lions at the Gabba, with AFL-listed players Callum Coleman-Jones, Josh Caddy, Mabior Chol, Will Martyn, Maurice Rioli and Thomson Dow all being held over as possible inclusions for the Tigers’ AFL clash with Adelaide on Sunday.

The Tigers have selected Jack Ross and supplementary selection Rhyan Mansell among their seven changes for the game, with youngster Cam Olden the other player out.

The VFL is still aiming for the round to go ahead in the present situation of the COVID-19 outbreak, with a decision on this game to be made in the morning.
