AFL Statement

THE AFL confirms Fremantle Assistant Coach Josh Carr has been suspended four matches and Fremantle fined $25,000 for a breach of WA Government Quarantine Directions.

Carr has already served two of the four matches after being stood down in Rounds 20 and 21. He will serve the remaining two matches across Rounds One and Two of the 2022 Premiership Season.

Fremantle’s $25,000 fine, of which $12,500 is suspended will be included in their 2021 Football Department Soft Cap.

AFL EGM Football Andrew Dillon said, “The Government quarantine orders are in place to best protect the health and well-being of our players and staff, their family and friends and everyone in the wider community,”

“We are in a privileged position to be able to continue to play matches and we must respect that privilege that is afforded to us by the relevant state governments.”
