COLLINGWOOD will unveil a trio of debutants as well as welcoming back some vital players for its Sunday’s Queen’s Birthday showdown against the undefeated Casey Demons at Casey Fields.

NAB AFL Mid-Season Rookie No.9 pick Josh Carmichael has been rushed into the team after kicking nine goals in eight SANFL matches for West Adelaide this season, while former Dandenong Stingrays ruckman Tom Roberts and Oakleigh Chargers small man Riley Voulanas.

The Magpies will also welcome back last year’s mid-season draft pick, high-flying forward Ash Johnson, after 10 weeks out with a hamstring injury, but first-round selection Arlo Draper and midfielder Tyler Brown, but in a surprise move they omitted Matt Wetering despite his breakout five-goal haul against Gold Coast.

Casey lost Michael Hibberd and Daniel Turner to Melbourne’s AFL team, plus Jake Melksham and Majak Daw, while Toby Bedford, Jayden Hunt and Adam Tomlinson have been listed among the inclusions.

FIVE clubs have named virtually unrecognisable teams from the ones that played their previous matches for critical Smithy’s VFL clashes this weekend.

Sandringham made eight changes for its trip to Queensland to meet Southport in a highly-anticipated 2v3 showdown, with Hunter Clark, Dean Kent and Cooper Sharman among the inclusions, while Scott Beilby will debut, with Dan Butler called up to the AFL, Jarrod Leinert being held over as an emergency and experienced heads Jarryn Geary, Tom Highmore, Sam Dunell and Chris Carey to all miss.

Essendon plays Carlton at Windy Hill, with the teams making a remarkable 17 changes between them.

The Bombers have seven changes, with mid-season draftees Massimo D’Ambrosio (who has overcome a shoulder injury) and Jye Menzie to play their first games for the club and AFL-listed quintet Brayden Ham, Brandon Zerk-Thatcher, Alec Waterman, Tex Wanganeen and Garrett McDonagh all coming in and Tom Cutler and Aaron Francis (suspended) the only listed players to drop out.

Carlton has switched a whopping 10 players from the team that overran Northern Bullants, with coaches award contender Paddy Dow returning alongside Will Hayes, Jack Carroll, Lachie Fogarty, Jesse Motlop, Liam Stocker, Alex Mirkov and NAB AFL Mid-Season Rookie Draft selection Sam Durdin, while Jack Martin and Jordan Boyd were called up to the AFL team and Tom Williamson is out for personal reasons.

GWS made eight changes for its clash with North Melbourne on Sunday, bringing in Nick Haynes, Jarrod Brander, Cooper Hamilton, mid-season draft pick Wade Derksen and debutant Brad Rauter but losing Jake Stein, Leek Aleer, Alex Smout and Angus Baker.

The Kangaroos have six changes, with Tarryn Thomas, Callum Coleman-Jones, Eddie Ford, Harry Jones and debutant Michael Stingel among the inclusions, while Jaidyn Stephenson and Charlie Lazzaro won’t make the trip to Sydney.

Port Melbourne has again been ravaged by injury ahead of its trip to Box Hill City Oval, losing Matt Signorello for six weeks with a broken jaw and Corey Wagner (hamstring) and Campbell Walker (ankle) for a month after its win over Williamstown.

FRANKSTON has rung the changes from its disappointing loss to Coburg last Sunday for its must-win Smithy's VFL showdown against top-four contenders Brisbane Lions at Skybus Stadium on Friday night.

The Dolphins' finals hopes are hanging by a thread after the disappointing loss to the Victorian Lions and they have no choice but to bounce back against the Queensland version if they want to keep their season alive.

They have lost returned star Nathan Freeman, in-form defender Max Williams and important role players Jackson Voss and Billy Mackay among seven changes, although experienced backman Liam Hiscock has earned a recall, with debuts handed to Marc Massarotti and Connor Riley's little brother Lachy.

The Lions will be without the AFL-recalled Mitch Robinson after a dominant showing against Northern Bullants last Friday, but they have been strengthened by the inclusion of last year's Geelong VFL best-and-fairest Darcy Fort, plus Callum Ah Chee and Jackson Prior.
