NAB League Boys Round 12 is the second and final Futures Round of the 2019 season and the teams for this weekend’s five games have been announced.

The sixth match of Round 12 will take place on Saturday July 13 when the Eastern Ranges travel to Launceston to face the Tasmania Devils.

As in last week’s first Futures Round, clubs must this week select at least 11 players who are currently in their 16th or 17th year, with team line-ups allowed to consist of up to 24 players. The 23rd player rule does not apply in Futures Rounds.

Vic Country, Vic Metro and the Allies are all in action at the NAB AFL Under-18 Championships on Friday, presenting plenty of opportunities for the next tier of players at NAB League Boys clubs to shine in Round 12.

Fresh off a bye, the Calder Cannons have added four new bottom-age or under-16 players to their list who are in line to make their NAB League debuts against the Western Jets on Sunday – including Joshua Misiti, the 16-year-old son of 236-game, dual-premiership-winning Essendon champion Joe Misiti.

Other metro-based clubs will complement their Futures talent with top-agers rotated out of Vic Metro’s line-up for its final match of the Under-18 Championships. The Sandringham Dragons welcome back Andrew Courtney, Hugo Ralphsmith and Corey Watts for their clash with the Oakleigh Chargers on Saturday, while the Western Jets have added Darcy Cassar to their team to take on the Cannons.

Meanwhile, Vic Country is in action for the first time in three weeks, with five Gippsland Power players leaving their line-up due to Championships duties and the Murray Bushrangers losing co-captain Lachlan Ash to Country as well as Ben Kelly to the Allies for his first appearance in the under-18 carnival.
