All the teams for the Smithy’s VFL Wildcard Round.
Casey Demons’ bid to keep their premiership defence alive has had a kick-along with five key AFL-listed players named to return for their Wildcard Round showdown with North Melbourne at Casey Fields on Sunday.
Intercept king Adam Tomlinson will return after losing his AFL spot to last week’s Demon best afield Dan Turner, while key forward Josh Schache is back after being Melbourne’s substitute.
Ball winners James Harmes, James Jordan and Bailey Laurie have also been selected.
Michael Hibberd will miss after being concussed against Brisbane Lions, while talented young forward Ziggy Toledo-Glasman has been replaced as 23rd man by Dandenong Stingrays teammate Ned Moodie.
There may be some late changes made when the travelling AFL emergencies, likely two of Laurie, Tomlinson, Tom McDonald and Taj Woewodin, come out.
North Melbourne has included Jackson Archer, Dan Howe and Louis Butler alongside youngster Jake Ellwood for the trip to Casey Fields.
However, the Kangaroos lose four AFL-listed players in the promoted Miller Bergman, Charlie Lazzaro and AFL debutant Kallan Dawson plus the injured Robert Hansen as they try to beat Casey for the first time.
Collingwood will start as favourite in the other Wildcard Round match after Richmond named just eight AFL-listed players for their contest at Swinburne Centre on Sunday.
The Tigers made a whopping nine changes to the team that beat North Melbourne to secure its spot in the Wildcard Round.
The forced changes follow the retirements of Trent Cotchin and Jack Riewoldt and the injury to Dion Prestia from the AFL team, with Jacob Bauer, Rhyan Mansell, Sam Banks and AFL debutants James Trezise and Tom Brown all being elevated.
Meanwhile, Seth Campbell and Cam Olden are injured and Tyler Sonsie suspended.
2019 Grand Finals hero Marlion Pickett is a big inclusion after being dropped from the AFL team, while tall forward Noah Cumberland and rebounder Garrett McDonagh also return to the team alongside Lachlan Johnson and Misilifi Faimalo.
Collingwood is the most settled of the four teams playing this week, with father-son Will Kelly and important forward Sam Glover making their way back into the team in place of luckless former Bomber Josh Eyre, whose season is likely over with a hamstring injury, and Chad Mulvogue.
