HAWTHORN veteran Shane Crawford's future is still unclear despite early indications that he had decided to play on in 2009.

The 34-year-old is in Hong Kong on the club’s end-of-season trip, but his manager Craig Kelly, of Elite Sports Properties, says Crawford is yet to confirm whether he will embark on a 17th campaign.

Crawford pushed through knee soreness to play 14 games in 2008, and had 25 possessions in Hawthorn's premiership win over Geelong at the end of last month.

His career tally sits at 305.

"Crawf has been in a whirlwind and we have spoken a couple of times and, to be honest, he has said 'I don’t want to think about it yet'," Kelly told Wednesday's Herald Sun.

"At some stage next week or the week after, we will sit down and have a further chat and if the planets line up we will see what happens."

Crawford has until October 31 – the deadline for the club's first list lodgement – to make his decision.

With the retirement of St Kilda midfielder Robert Harvey and Swans ruckman Peter Everitt, Crawford will be the competition's oldest player if he continues.
