THE WESTERN Bulldogs have called a media conference for Wednesday morning amid speculation of a parting of the ways with coach Rodney Eade.

Eade, 53, who has been the Dogs' coach since 2005, is out of contract at the end of the season.

He has taken the team to preliminary finals in the past three seasons, but the Bulldogs have lost them all.

They are 12th on the ladder this season with seven wins from 19 matches and are out of finals' contention after their loss last Saturday night to Essendon.

Despite the speculation it was business as usual for Eade, who led the Bulldogs' training at Whitten Oval on Wednesday morning.

Eade previously coached the Sydney Swans, leading them to the Grand Final in 1996, after a decorated playing career with Hawthorn.

He has coached 295 AFL matches, winning 162 of them, and is scheduled to appear at the media conference with club president David Smorgon and CEO Simon Garlick.

With vacancies in the coaching positions at both Melbourne and Adelaide after Dean Bailey's sacking and Neil Craig's resignation, Eade's experience is likely to see him in the mix for both clubs.
