Six high-profile West Australians will return home for the 2026 AAMI AFL Origin match, with the AFL today unveiling the next wave of players selected to represent Western Australia.
Premiership stars Bradley Hill (St Kilda), Charlie Cameron (Brisbane Lions), Kysaiah Pickett (Melbourne) and Darcy Cameron (Collingwood) will be joined by GWS GIANTS key position duo Jesse Hogan and Sam Taylor when Western Australia takes on Victoria at Optus Stadium on Saturday, 14 February.
Fremantle’s Luke Jackson and Jordan Clark, along with West Coast Eagles midfielder Liam Baker, round out the nine players added to West Australia’s squad as excitement builds for the return of elite-level Origin football.
The latest selections bring Western Australia’s squad to 14, following last month’s announcement of Patrick Cripps (Carlton), Shai Bolton (Fremantle), Tom Barrass (Hawthorn), Aaron Naughton (Western Bulldogs) and Chad Warner (Sydney Swans).
Fremantle senior coach Justin Longmuir was also unveiled as an assistant coach last week, joining Sydney Swans senior coach Dean Cox, who will head up the Western Australia team.
Western Australia AAMI AFL Origin senior coach Dean Cox said he was excited about the latest selections.
“I’m really happy with how the squad is shaping up, with 14 of the state’s best homegrown footballers locked in and ready to represent Western Australia,” Cox said.
“They’re all players who know how to stand up in big moments, and half of them are premiership players which will be invaluable experience on the Origin stage.
“I am also excited to see a few familiar faces team up again. Kozzy and Luke were great teammates at Melbourne, and Liam Baker and Shai Bolton forged something special together at Richmond. Seeing those combinations back together in the ‘Black Swan’ will be awesome.
“I can’t wait to sit down with Justin and Glen to finalise the rest of the squad.”
In 2026, AAMI AFL Origin will be delivered with the support of the Western Australian Government, through Tourism WA, and showcase the best of the state to fans all over the country.
The 2026 AAMI AFL Origin match will be broadcast on Channel 7 and Fox, as well as 7Plus and Kayo streaming platforms, spotlighting Perth and its world-class sporting facilities to the rest of the nation.
The match will begin at 4.40pm AWST / 7.40pm AEDT. For more information, head to Origin.AFL
