A FAN was ejected from Domain Stadium for racist comments on Saturday as further booing of Sydney Swans star Adam Goodes soured Fremantle's nine-point qualifying final win.

Domain Stadium management employed 200 extra security staff for the match and encouraged fans to use an SMS messaging service to report any inappropriate crowd behaviour.

A number of incidents were reported and Domain Stadium's general manager Gavin Taylor confirmed that security ejected one fan from the venue for racial vilification.

"We had an issue that was identified today and confirmed," Taylor told AFL.com.au.

"We dealt with that in line with all of our processes. That person was removed from the ground and we'll follow up with Fremantle during the week and apply what we believe is appropriate measures following."

Six things we learned from Fremantle v the Swans

Two fans were ejected from Domain Stadium during the round 17 clash between West Coast and the Swans when the booing of Goodes was so extreme that it led the dual Brownlow medallist to take a leave of absence from football.

He missed the next week before returning in round 19. Goodes returned to Domain Stadium for the first time since on Saturday and produced an outstanding performance in a losing cause, gathering 25 disposals.

But there were sections of the crowd that booed Goodes every time he touched the ball. A patron who sat at ground level, behind the bench, told AFL.com.au that the booing could hardly be heard at ground level but it was clearly heard in the top tier and through the television broadcast.

Fremantle coach Ross Lyon said he was disappointed to hear that Goodes had been booed. Lyon has been very strong in denouncing it over the past two months.

"I've been made aware of that situation," Lyon said.

"It's disappointing personally. I can only speak for myself. I think this is really simple.

"Once Adam made it known that he was taking it in the context that he was – he feels it's racist, and his teammates (do as well) - the AFL family would prefer everyone just cheered for their own (team) and left Adam alone.

"I'm still quite strong about it. I haven't mellowed.

"Everyone puts their head on the pillow at night and deals with their own conscience.

"Mine's pretty good with Adam Goodes and the indigenous community at large."

Swans coach John Longmire said post-match that he had not heard any booing from the coach's box.

"I haven't spoken to him but I must admit, I didn't hear it," Longmire said.

"I generally think it was OK but I haven't spoken to him."
