The Eagles looked likely winners early in the final term at Patersons Stadium after Luke Shuey kicked the side's fifth straight goal to open up a 12-point lead.
But the more experienced Swans, led by Adam Goodes, Jude Bolton and Josh Kennedy, took control of the game in the run home and delivered the Eagles' first loss of the season.
"We haven't just answered out experience and youth issues in three months - that's going to take another year or two," Worsfold said on Saturday night.
"We've still got that in our squad, there's no doubt about that.
"Their experience and strength and size, it's certainly a great experience for our young midfielders to be up against that and I thought they handled it pretty well all night.
"[It was a] great learning curve for them."
West Coast dominated the hit-outs (68-38) but was beaten at ground level, losing the clearances 50-34.
Worsfold praised the continued influence of rejuvenated ruckman Dean Cox and emerging sidekick Nic Naitanui.
"Our rucks have been going really well … 'Coxy' kicked a couple of goals and Nic had a big impact on the game," the coach said.
"He (Naitanui) has played some pretty good games for the club. As a young developing ruckman we're pretty pleased with how he's progressing and what he gives us.
"He and Cox, as I've said several times, they're different types of players and in any given instance, to be able to say one of them we want to play more on-ball as the ruckman, it gives us a good mix-up.
"I thought they did very well."
Worsfold was also pleased with the various avenues to goal that continue to present in Mark LeCras' absence.
After receiving a combined seven goals from midfielders Andrew Embley and Luke Shuey last week, and three goals from Josh Kennedy against Port Adelaide, Quinten Lynch stepped up with four first-half goals on Saturday night.
"'Lynchy' always plays a role for the team," Worsfold said. "Round one he played as a ruckman and the last couple of weeks he's played as a forward and he's helped us get over the line.
"And we're still confident Naitanui and Cox are going to impact even more. If they get a free run at the footy they're going to be able to take some good marks."
