FOOTY is up in the air yet again, with the possibility of all games being played in Victoria in the next couple of weeks.
But the VFL's best players continued on their merry way in a remarkable Round 11 where the sixth, eighth, ninth and 10th teams were all beaten by rivals below them on the ladder and second, fourth, fifth and seventh won easily.
Sandringham and North Melbourne continued their renaissances and the Northern Bullants broke through against former partner Carlton to ensure all 22 teams finally have a win in season 2021.
Here are those players who played a starring role in bringing the finals race to life.
TOM CAMPBELL (NORTH MELBOURNE)
Faced with another in-form ruckman in AFL 100-gamer Matthew Lobbe, who appeared on this list last week, Campbell was the difference in the Kangaroos' third-straight win.
He kicked the opening goal and went on to dominate Lobbe in hitouts (49-27), disposals (19-12), marks (6-2) and clearances (6-3).
CHARLIE CONSTABLE (GEELONG)
Constable is proving himself too good for VFL level week-in-week-out, and it is only the strength of the Cats’ AFL midfield keeping him out of that team.
He had a remarkable 25 kicks, 19 handballs, nine marks, 10 clearances, six inside-50s and kicked 1.1, while also racking up the goal assists in a 118-point devastation of the Brisbane Lions.
TOM GREEN (GWS GIANTS) & CALLUM SINCLAIR (SYDNEY)
Impossible to split these two for best-on-ground in a contest that was as unusual as it is has become usual in these crazy times.
Giant Green used up Champion Data’s ink with 24 kicks, 17 handballs, six marks, 11 clearances, eight inside-50s and a goal, while Swan Sinclair was unstoppable in the ruck with 44 hitouts, 20 kicks, 11 handballs, seven marks, seven tackles, nine clearances, four inside-50s and a goal of his own.
You decide!
SAM DUNELL (SANDRINGHAM)
The Zebras hadn’t beaten Richmond in seven attempts, and the signs pointed to eight when the Tigers led 19-1 after 21 minutes – but Dunell had other ideas.
In his 154th VFL game and returning to the forward line for the first time this season, Dunell turned the game with two quick goals from contested marks and went on to take 11 grabs and boot four goals to lead his team to a comprehensive win.
EMERSON JEKA (BOX HILL HAWKS)
The young key forward has enjoyed a strong season that included an AFL debut, and he was back to his best in the Hawks’ come-from-behind win over Aspley.
The Hornets kicked the first four goals to reprise memories of round one, but the Hawks took over with Jeka pulling in 11 marks on his way to 18 kicks and 4.2 to move to 19 majors for the season.
NATHAN JONES (CASEY DEMONS)
Jones has nothing left to prove after 300 AFL matches and he reminded Melbourne selectors of that fact in an AFL-standard contest featuring 34 players who are or have been on lists at the top level.
He had 19 kicks, 17 handballs, 11 clearances, six tackles, four inside-50s and snared 1.1 as Casey wore down Essendon to stay undefeated after six matches.
WILL MITCHELL (NORTHERN BULLANTS)
All 22 Bullants contributed in some way to their breakthrough victory, but it was Mitchell’s hard work around the contest that played a big role.
He had nine kicks and 19 handballs, while laying seven tackles and contributing eight clearances as the Bullants won the disposal and clearance counts to secure a famous win.
NICK RODDA (WILLIAMSTOWN)
Williamstown and Port Melbourne traded behinds in the first quarter before Rodda took it upon himself to put a gap between the arch-rivals.
While he 'only' finished with 12 disposals, Rodda hit every pack hard, dragged down eight mostly contested marks and kicked a crucial 4.2 in a matchwinning performance to keep his team within striking distance of the top four.
The big man had himself a day out ??

SPECIAL MENTIONS: MARCUS LENTINI (COBURG) & MATTHEW PAYNE (ASPLEY)
Beaten last week for the first time this season, Lentini responded against one of the best teams in the competition with 17 kicks, 26 handballs and nine clearances – his third 40-plus game of the season.
Aspley’s spiritual leader Payne was similarly impressive as the Hornets took it up to Box Hill early in their first trip to Melbourne, racking up 32 kicks, 11 handballs, 10 marks and five clearances.
