A review of the action from Round 2 of the Coates Talent League Girls season.

The Sydney Swans Academy recorded their second win in succession by accounting for the Murray Bushrangers at Highgate Recreation Reserve. The Swans backed up their opening round win over Dandenong Stingrays with an impressive performance against the Bushrangers, which was kickstarted by a five-goal blitz in the opening term. Kendra Blattman, Grace Crittenden and Lily Race were among the key contributors for the Swans, while Kloe Mcelhinney and Alice Voss were best for the Bushrangers.

GWV Rebels bounced back from a close loss in Round 1 to defeat Bendigo Pioneers at Mars Stadium. The Rebels led by seven points at the main break, before kicking four goals to one in the second half to win by 29 points. Isabella Davies, Alysha Ralston and Molly Walton impressed in the victory, while Bendigo was well served by Caitlin Evans, Gemma Roberts and Jemmika Douglas.

Dandenong Stingrays and Geelong Falcons played out a great contest at Deakin Reserve, with the Stingrays prevailing by 10 points. The visitors led by 11 points at the last change and extended that buffer to 23 points with the first two goals of the final term. However, the Falcons stayed in the hunt courtesy of two goals in a minute to close within two kicks with 10 minutes to play. Meg Robertson, Brooke Smith and Sophie Butterworth were best for Dandenong, while Sara Howley and Chloe Adams found plenty of the ball for Geelong.

GWS Giants Academy made it two wins across the weekend for the New South Wales teams by defeating Gippsland Power at Highgate Recreation Reserve on Sunday. The Giants spread the scoring load, with their six goals coming from six goal kickers. Sophia de Castella, Melanie Staunton, Cleo Buttifant were leading contributors for the Giants, while Siena Lane and Shanae Hawker toiled hard for the Power.

Match replays are available on the Coates Talent League app and at AFL On Demand.
