Eyes aplenty will be focused on Victoria Park on Saturday when AFLW umpiring prodigy Emma Stark makes the switch from blowing the whistle to chasing the leather for her rebel VFLW debut in the Magpies’ season-defining clash with North Melbourne.

Stark became the youngest field umpire in AFL or AFLW history when she took charge of a game between Essendon and Hawthorn in Season 7 when she was just 16. She has been playing in the Coates Talent League for the Oakleigh Chargers after developing in the NT Thunder Academy with power club St Mary’s.

Her selection helps give the Magpies a decidedly red and blue flavour. She is one of five Chargers who will make their rebel VFLW debuts, with the others being Sarah Poustie, Abbey Vicino, Jacinta Baxter and Maggie Mahony.

At the other end of the scale, the Magpies have also selected country footy champion Danielle Sgarbi, the captain of Geelong Amateur who won her first AFL Barwon Women’s league best-and-fairest award last season.

Charli Granville will miss at least two weeks with a foot injury Collingwood, with Lilly Pearce being rested and last week’s Oakleigh debutants Marlo Cockerill and Sophie McIntosh stepping back.

The Kangaroos will be more settled, with Tricia Cowan returning for the hamstrung Marli Klaumanns-Moller in their only change.

Port Melbourne will be boosted by the return of premiership player Nayely Borg from a knee injury in its only change for its clash with Essendon at ETU Stadium.

The Bombers, who will be looking to hit back not only from last week’s thrashing from North Melbourne but also their other goalless effort this season against the Borough in Round 1, have named Montmorency’s Emily Gallagher, 23, to make her debut.

Ava Jordan, Olivia Manfre and Tayla Hart-Aluni return for the Bombers, with Scarlett Orritt (calf) and AFLW player Kodi Jacques among the outs.

Hawthorn has withdrawn the last of its AFLW players as Box Hill Hawks try to bounce back from their shock loss to Darebin last week, with Bridget Deed, Louise Stephenson, Sophie Butterworth and Jess Vukic put on ice, while dangerous forward Rosie Dillon has a minor leg injury.

The Hawks take on Carlton at IKON Park on Saturday and have recalled ruck Grace Matser and forwards Miz Kendall, Cassie Davidson and Jess Matin among their five changes.

Heidelberg’s Isabella Caminiti, the sister of St Kilda forward Anthony, will make her debut for the Blues alongside Mt Evelyn product Amelie Moore, with Jemmika Douglas and Alexis Gregor returning to the Bendigo Pioneers.

Sandringham Dragons graduate Ella Sciberras has turned strong VAFAW form with Old Scotch into a VFLW debut for Southern Saints in their last chance trip to Mission Whitten Oval to take on the in-form Western Bulldogs.

The formlines could not be any different – the Saints have dropped seven in a row and the Bulldogs have won their past four by three goals or more – and the visitors will hope Sciberras and returnees Zoe Barbakos and Liv Robinson can change that.

Jemma Livingstone and London Ashcroft come in for the Bulldogs, with Ashleigh Snow entering concussion protocols.

Darebin has recalled rebounder Emma Mackay and the experienced Paije Kearney as it chases three wins in a row against Casey Demons at Genis Steel Oval on Sunday, with the Demons recalling Olivia Morris in the only change to the team that landed an impressive win over Geelong to stay on the edge of the top six.

Williamstown and Geelong have each made just one unforced switch for their game at DSV Stadium on Sunday, with Maddie Edwards replacing Mikayla Plunkett for the Seagulls and Lily Jordan in for Brooke Plummer for the Cats.
